Crater Lake one day. 63 baskets of golf another.
June 17 - 18th
I woke a few miles up Forest Development Road 25, played Tom Pearce Park with some locals, then progressed towards Crater Lake for a long, snow filled, accent.
Snow still closed all but two spots in the park. Opting not to jump in the water, I instead admired Crater Lakes stellar views with the other tourists. Note to self: Visit Crater Lake in late summer.
I spent the evening with small falls outside my door. One of my top locales to relax, read, and rest yet.
Per a strong recommendation from the locals at Tom Pierce Park, I headed to the beautiful 27-hole Whistlers Bend to start off Sunday. The park, surrounded by the Umpqua River, was well worth the loss of my first disc in years and a few scrapes from the brambles that ate it.
After Whistler’s 27 holes, I slowed with a shorter 18 at the private Paradise course. Its small footprint was overcome with crazy creativity. A nice reprieve before more locals recommended Dexter 15 min away. With rain forcasted for the next few days my tired ass was motivated to play another 18 before the sun set. 63 holes and 1 lost disc for the day.
