Growing thoughts.
If we began honestly reflecting on our current goals would it help us develop a healthier path forward?
Truths I had to discover and still grapple with.
Lie: I was raised to believe in a great country where we all are created equal.
Truth: We only care if you’re monetizable. The more you’re worth the more we care. If you’re a billionaire we’ll help you out the most. In the middle, we will help only enough so you remain docile. If poor you become our obstacle.
Lie: We are working together to create a better future for our collective benefit.
Truth: We are working together to make shit future for most and a better future for a few wealthy psychopaths who will never be satiated.
Lie: Our goal is to spread democracy and economic prosperity worldwide for our and others’ benefit.
Truth: Historically speaking we have destabilized countries, only care about countries with resources, and are still evolving methods to extract the most returns regardless of any negative effects on their populace.
Lie: We live in a democracy.
Truth: Democracy disappeared when corporations became people and politicians were led by lobbyists.
Lie: We civilized savage natives and celebrated Thanksgiving with them.
Truth: We got tired of paying taxes to a king, sadistically stole this country, and destroyed its history to collect our own taxes. It’s now ours because we say so, fuck you, fuck the people that used to live here, fuck anyone that’s not a white dude with blue eyes, fuck anyone from another country unless you’re rich, rich people are important even if nearly all inherited wealth and smartly stepped on others for gains.
Lie: Education is meant to develop adults who are healthy and make positive contributions to society.
Truth: We want to educate people that do what they are told, don’t ask unapproved questions, and fuck kids with abusive parents or no parents, not our problem you live in a country that finds you disposable like our plastic that permeates our planet.
A LONGITUDINAL TEST OF CREATIVE POTENTIAL done by NASA found that of 1,600 four and five-year-olds, 98 percent scored at the “creative genius” level. Five years later, only 30 percent of the same group of children scored at the same level, and again, five years later, only 12 percent.
I agree with democracy but don’t feel like I’ve ever experienced one.
What has our (fake) democracy accomplished? We’ve created the most billionaires. We have shitty expensive healthcare, education, and enormous income inequality.
Unregulated capitalism is toxic to our collective health.
America stands for: Everything is for sale and you can do anything for a price.
Why are lies more profitable than truth?
Current path: We are driven to consume. Our manifestation of capitalism strengthens the weaker and less healthy we are. Unhealthy people purchase treatments and goods to help soothe and pacify our woes. We’ve grown to be ideal consumers with no regard for our waste.
Hypothetical path: If our collective metric for success was the health of ourselves and our communities, our approach would reframe the challenges we face today. Opportunities would arise where currently there are only obstacles.
Investments. We need to invest in people. Our driving metric, the economy, is successful when we are unhealthy and at war. More weapons produced and solutions to sell satiate our insecurities and strengthen our economy. Our current investments are charging interest instead of paying dividends.
Hypothesis. Focusing on our health and the health of our communities will pay dividends. If we are healthy, our economy will be too.
Solution. To find solutions we must first define our current path honestly. Only after can we create an alternate common path. If we achieve this it would refocus our common goals under a new lens. The unsurmountable challenges we face today would have many solutions that we are blind to now.
Relationships. How do we incentivize symbiotic relationships instead of the parasitic ones we have with our planet?
Religion. Earth is our god. Healthy religion is found when we step back to gain a larger perspective. Our world, around before the creation of god(s), explains our existence. Our world is alive, teaching, breathing, and its breath created the garden we exploit.
Habits. To develop healthy habits, reduce temptation and establish incentives.
