Headed to Ridgway, CO.
Dec 9th, 2022
The van struggled to climb the Rockies outside Denver, stalling only once in a place I could pull over, read, and wait. After an hour of waiting, a courtesy truck stopped by to check on me, the vapor lock dissipated, which is my current hypothesis for the stalling, and she started right up.
With the pedal pushed to the floor, stalling starting again, heart pounding, hands sweaty, I made it to Eisenhower pass, the highest point before decent. The stalling slowly started to ease as the altitude dropped.
An hour away from Ridgeway I saw a huge star shooting through the sky and decided it was time to call it for the evening. I pulled over at Wells Gultch and enjoyed the night under the bright moonlit landscape just a bit off the beaten path.
